Business growth triggers new recruit for Palin Communications

Friday 3 June 2011 - Following recent business growth, health focused PR agency Palin Communications has expanded its team with the recruitment of Amy Medcalf as an Account Executive.

Amy joins the team following a stint as the Media Assistant at The Children's Hospital at Westmead, where she helped co-ordinate Bandaged Bear Day, the Teddy Bear's Picnic, Operation Art and the hospital's Ride to Work Day.

Amy's appointment follows a series of new business wins for the health-focused PR agency in respiratory health, rheumatology, vaccines and also within its existing network of not-for-profit medical patient groups.

According to Managing Director Martin Palin, Amy's appointment will add important capacity at a time when demand for the specialist expertise of the team is increasing.

"Amy's exposure to the processes of health focused media relations means she is well placed to make a positive contribution to the many active health-related projects here in the agency. She has been personalising stories by co-ordinating case studies, supervising news crews at the hospital and co-ordinating live TV crosses, so this is all highly relevant experience. Our business is growing and so I expect the size and expertise of the team will continue to expand accordingly," said Palin.

I remember he asked me then whether I thought any of the kerfuffle being triggered by he and other journalists (like Melissa Sweet who was then Health Editor at the Sydney Morning Herald) would lead to any tangible change in the way pharmaceutical companies operated in the future.   Read more
